It's here after years of waiting

Everyone that knows about this book has been expecting it for years. I even thought it'd never come out. But here it is now in my hands, and I'm really happy with it.

The book is all about the rough images drawn by Disney artists over for classics like Aladdin, The Little Mermaid, The Jungle Book, Peter Pan and so many others. There's very few sketches of the main characters for almost all big Disney animated movies, so there's something for everyone.

The book has no text, except for an intro by Charles Solomon, where he mentions a few of the famous animators and what they drew. Then, it jumps directly to sketches and more sketches. There's no other text besides that introduction. While it's nice that the drawings are big so you can appreciate every detail, it's bad that there are no credits for each drawing. You're left wondering who the artist might be (although if you're a Disney animation freak, you might identify the style and quality of some of them).

The book is similar in style to Animation (Walt Disney Animation Studios: The Archive Series), although the focus of this book is the rough drawings.

I think that if you're a collector, or you like drawing, you're going to be really happy with this book. Enjoy!

Beautiful Book

I think this book is a wonderful treasure for Disney fans. The pages feel like you're looking through an actual sketch book and it's great to see the different drawings for the characters. Of course, you won't get as in depth of a look per film/character as you would for a "making of" book, but you get a good a mount of stuff, ranging from Mickey Mouse, all the way to "Tangled."

It's a lovely book for a Disney fan looking for a great book. Like someone else said, the only flaw are that there are no notes of any kind, so you can't tell who did what when and things like that. Still, a five star book.

I love this book! The pencil sketches are gorgeous, and have a "life of their own", often more so than the images that end up on screen. If you consider yourself an "historian" and want a detailed analysis of the art in the book, you will be disappointed. If, however, you want a beautiful book of art that is EXACTLY what the publisher describes, then this is for you!

I wish it were better at highlighting important details

This book is very dense in information. I wish it were better at highlighting important details. With YouTube videos it was a decent supplement to learn accounting. The online homework wasn't great because it didn't give you help or pointers if you got a problem wrong. Also it was picky about format of answer. You could get a right answer and it would mark it wrong because you didn't go to two decimal places for example.

Consumer reports for education policy makers

I agree with the publisher's summary of this compact compendium. I particularly appreciate its lucid explanation of what different levels of research are and aren't--helpful to educators and non-educators alike for deciding perhaps what innovations would best serve the community.
It is particularly good exposing some of the assumptions that are shared in the press about some 'best practices', and about the background of some ideas that have taken the country by storm and become standard without having any research or theoretical base.
I would add that it is a very readable book for being primarily a reference to other works, with a voice that is very conversational without sacrificing any of its scholarly authority. It is even opinionated about forming opinions.
The book does not have as slick a look as some, which kind of adds to its authenticity as an earnest effort to get the facts out there so you can make up your own mind. You will, too, for they actually teach you how to consider the evidence and form a conclusion.
I would think this will be updated every couple years. It should be a standard reference for school board members as well as all those master of education courses.

Great reference on the current topics in education. The book is very easy to read and not too technical. The reader can easily follow the flow of thoughts of the author.

The author has explained very well the differences among educational philosophies. He was able to do so by narrating the historical background of the leading contributors to education and how they came up with these various educational practices. I now understand how some statistical methods were developed and used. Statistical books sometimes do not give distinctions on the methods and leave you confused or frustrated.

This book gives you clarity, confidence and courage on how to develop your own teaching style and strategies. These traits are important the moment you accept your teaching assignment and encounter your students.

I haven't finished reading this book, but so far it's great! The first chapters introduce you to different types of research in education. Then the author begins looking at different trends in education and how much research has been done to support them.

This is a very interesting book if you're trying to figure out what the research says about what works in education and what questions to ask about a new program or trend that may be introduced to you or your school.
