About the Author
Dean Henderson was born in Faulkton, South Dakota. He earned an M.S. in Environmental Studies from the University of Montana, where he edited The Missoula Paper and was a columnist for the Montana Kaimin. His articles have appeared in Multinational Monitor, In These Times, Paranoia and several other magazines. A life long political activist and traveler, Henderson is co-founder of the University of Montana Green Party and the Ozark Heritage Region Peace and Justice Network. He is former Vice-President of the Central Ozarks Farmer's Union and former President of the Howell County Democrats. In 2004, Dean won the Democratic nomination for Congress in Missouri's 8th District. The second half was boring, repetitive and self-indulgent

It started off so well. The first half of the book I was enthralled. The second half was boring, repetitive and self-indulgent. He uses the word "oligarchy" about 87000 times throughout the book and is obsessed with coffee. I also find it highly hypocritical - he jet sets around the world to hang with "God's chosen people - the global poor", and yet in every place he goes to, he bargains down all their prices. Arguing prices with the people that can least afford it on this planet while pretending to be one of them and putting himself above any other traveller out there. He did highlight some political and economic atrocities around the world that I was not aware of but his account of South Africa contains 9 incorrect references and/or spelling mistakes. If he got that stuff wrong, how much other stuff in this book is wrong. And after all that, the book just ends. Disappointing, I don't really recommend it.

3013:Targeted by Susan Hayes is a great addition to the 3013:The Series books. I love how she brings strong characters and great story telling together to make an unforgettable read.
Hawke Summers isn’t very diplomatic, he isn’t a fan of small spaces and been known to play mercenary between jobs. He has the flair for the dramatic. Maverick personality.
Brandt is Hawke’s brother of the heart. They are very close friends. He wants to settle down, have a family. He is organized the administrative type. The perfect foil to Hawke’s more impulsive personality. He wants something for them, not just a pay check but a life.
T’Karra she owns her own bar, aptly named The Black Hole. She has a great rep for great food and service. She is a tough as nails girl who does not take crap from anyone.
I really liked T’Karra a lot she is strong yet vulnerable. She really needs the two men in her life as much as they will turn out needing her too. I liked that balance of power in the book. Made all three essential characters.
Over all this has a lot of story inside this book as well as a hot hot hot romance that will keep you turning the pages. This book is part of a series but can be read as a standalone without too much trouble.
If you like ménage, romance, and great space stories this series is the one to pick up. You will find someone to fall in love with for sure, I know I did.

I've been a fan of the 3013 series since its beginning, and with each book this series just keeps getting better and better. Author Susan Hayes has written a wonderfully crafted story, which centers around one of the peripheral characters in the previous book of the series. The heroine T'Karra is a pack leader of a group of Krytos, a warrior race whose home was destroyed by the same bad aliens who attacked Earth. She's written as a very feisty, independent woman, who is trying to find out who betrayed her pack in the last book. The two commanders, Hawke and Brandt who come to the X-2 station to find out what is happening and to straighten out the station were written as great alpha individuals, but with a bit of humor as the two of them snark at each other a lot. The three of them fall for each other, while trying to solve the crime, and our heroes want to keep the independent woman as their chosen. If you want to find out more, buy this book! It's amazing and very entertaining.

Amazing... I love the fact that I can add this to my favorites list. The series just keeps getting better and better. Targeted was right up there with my fav Sci-Fi reads and glad that it was part of this awesome series.
Its an easy read that flows well and its just about the right length. Not too much detail to bog you down, but enough that keeps the reader interested. The characters are awesome, I loved T’karra’s brothers.
Hawke a alliance commander was “undercover” for a very short time..when he and his partner arrived on their new station. Hawke is more verbal and quick to react, where as Brandt is more the thinker of the two. But they both come together in agreement when they spend just a little time in T’karra’s presence.
T’karra is a Krytos female and leader of her pack, you may remember her from book 4 Stowaway. She kicks but and takes names and will never justify her actions to anyone. At her age she should be mated but she isn’t to the consternation of her brothers. For T’karra she has more than earned her freedom and right to lead and isn’t about to give that up to be mated.
I cant find anything negative to say about this book, Ms.Hayes nailed it...with her talent to weave a spell the word play, the bit of mystery and danger and more than sizzling scenes that make you want to fan your face. I am glad that I was able to read this and do recommend it to anyone that has a love for Science Fiction. Enjoy

Eat that Frog is an excellent motivational book. The complaints I see by most here are along the lines that there's nothing new in this book. To me, there's nothing new in MOST self help books. After all, we each know that the way to stop procrastinating is to just do what we dread, the way to lose weight is to burn off more calories than we consume, the way to keep house is to clean and organize on a regular basis, and so on. What we seek is some motivation and some reasoning for doing what we dislike doing.
Brian Tracy gives this motivation and reasoning. This is a short, fast read. As the author says, it doesn't go into all the psychology of procrastination; rather, it gets right to the action. Brian Tracy covers such things as determining priorities, delegating and eliminating some tasks, knowing what's okay to procrastinate about, and whether to tackle your "frog" (your big task that will lend the greatest results) first or a lesser priority task.
The result is a clear, concise book that is helpful and shows that by regularly eating your frogs first, you develop a habit that makes it easier to accomplish more than the average person and do it with increasingly less effort. An excellent, worthwhile book that you will likely refer to time and time again.

This books could have easily been titled "Doing Discipline" but I have to admit, I like the title "Eat that Frog", the metaphor really digs into the well of the procrastinator.

Eat That Frog delivers 21 habits that have been determined invaluable for sucess. Forget the reviewers who feel that these habits could have been condensed, to leave any habit out would be a deterrent to the effectiveness of the program.

This book is a brief easy read but is not intended to be a one time read. Tracy offers bullet points and exercises. They should be repeated on a daily basis.

The concept is that the 21 habits repeated daily can result in behavior change in 21 days. Some behavior "experts" disagree, however, with advanced techniques like NLP and Alpha programming, it is actually possible to reprogram yourself and establish new habits much quicker. But, like all conditioning, it must be repeated or it can be lost. Just like physical exercise.

I am glad that Brian Tracy is coming out with these smaller books that act like little coaches in book form. The book is compact and can be carried in a mens briefcase or a ladies purse or bag. You can read it over a coffee break or at other opportune times.

I really can understand the 1 star reviews. Brian Tracy is such a talented author and trainer that it seems like a waste to read a book by him, especially after you have those 300+ page books that he puts out. You have to understand what Brian is trying to do here. This was intended to be a fast read, to give you 21 powerful techniques to overcome procrastination and achieve success. In that light, Brian has succeeded admirably with this work. Highly recommended.

Paul D. Sonkin (New York, NY) is a portfolio manager at GAMCO Investors / Gabelli Funds. He is co-Portfolio Manager of the TETON Westwood Mighty Mites Fund, a value fund which primarily invests in micro-cap equity securities. Sonkin has over 20 years of experience researching small, micro and nanocap companies. Prior to analyzing stubs, spin-offs and micro-cap companies for GAMCO, Mr. Sonkin was for 14 years the portfolio manager of The Hummingbird Value Fund and the Tarsier Nanocap Value Fund. He holds an MBA from Columbia University Graduate School of Business and a B.A. in Economics from Adelphi University. Since 1996, Sonkin has been an adjunct professor at Columbia University Graduate School of Business, where he has taught courses on security analysis and value investing. For over 10 years, he was a member of the Executive Advisory Board of The Heilbrunn Center for Graham & Dodd Investing at Columbia Business School and co-author of Value Investing: From Graham to Buffett and Beyond.
Paul Johnson (New York, NY) is the founder and investment manager of Nicusa Capital Partners, a private investment partnership that he started in 2003. Help to Save Yourself.....

Does this sound counter to what you learned in "Sunday School", mosque or the synagogue? Or, does this sound possibly arrogant and blasphemous? Well it is not!

Mr. Murphy's books are far from being sacrilegious (as some conservative critics suggest); they are are beautifully doxological and deeply empowering.

There are so many wonderful teaching points in this book I will try to outline a few of the most thought-provoking ones:

1) We answer our own prayers through turning to the spiritual power within us all; when you understand that whatever you consciously believe is true is brought to pass through the power of the subconscious mind, you can take all of the guess work out of prayer

2) God is not some old guy in the sky that will punish you if you are bad or with whom you can bargain or that requires you to sacrifice the wholesome things in life you desire. As JM teaches, the only thing any of us "owe" God is , "recognition, praise and thanksgiving".

3) The meaning of the word "Christ" is actually a title meaning the anointed one. In fact, when we are able to fully comprehend and apply the truth that thoughts are things and whatever we feel to be true is expressed in our life (pg. 237) we gain access to the priceless wisdom of Jesus' (and other great prophets') teachings.

This is a book for a person who firmly believes in a spiritual, nonphysical higher power but whose good common sense has led him/her to question literal interpretations of the Bible and has heretofore been left disillusioned with traditional religious teachings.

A good test of the efficacy of any theory is the impact it has on one's life. I am a firm believer that anyone who applies the spiritual truths that are simple yet power and described in this work (as well as several other works of the author) shall see for themselves.

I also recommend reading this book along side the author's most popular work, "The Power of Your Subconscious Mind". I am writing this view because as JM teaches, whatever you think and feel you create. I feel fortunate to have been led to his teachings and I am writing this review to encourage others interested in the fundamental truths of life to read and profit from his works as well. This is not altruism therefore, but a way to create more experiences in my life that lead to me feeling more grateful and fortunate (smiles).

The only thing more I might add is that when you see the tangible results of applying the principles in this book, you share the knowledge with others.

A Little Treasure Trove of Divine Wisdom

I absolutely adore this little volume of essays by Joseph Murphy. One reviewer had the audacity to give this three stars and the title of their review was, "Some Interesting Cases but Nothing New Under the Sun..."

Oh, man...that bothers me...it really does...it makes me want to tear out what's left of my hair and I really don't have too much of it to spare.

If there is one thing that I repeat over and over and over again to people who take my classes and have sessions with me is this; THERE IS NOTHING NEW IN METAPHYSICS! It is a constant rehashing of the same basic principles over and over again.

But here's the thing, are you really living the principles? Are you consciously and deliberately applying them to your life? For the 1,546,987nth time you have heard the statement, "God is Love..." Do you go, "Yeah...yeah...yawn...big friggin' deal...heard that before...so what?" Or are you almost in tears with awe and joy, "God is Love? Oh, my...you mean I don't have to buy into fear? You mean there is no hell outside of the one I create and even that one isn't real? You mean God loves me? Me? This person who has done so many vile and shameful and regrettable things? God loves me that God is willing to create me new in each and every moment?"

I don't know about you but that humbles me...it doesn't debase me...it humbles me and leaves me in absolute awe and amazement that the One Life decided to create me in Its Image and Likeness. I am truly blessed to be who I am.

This book will leave you with a fresh sense of wonder and amazement. Take an essay and work with it for a week. Try to consciously and deliberately apply the principles. Try to realize at least 1,000 times a day that you are an expression, an extension, an experience of God's Love, God's Life, God's Laughter, God's Light. When you are about to be swallowed up by appearances, when you are just about to think that life is worthless and everyone is against you, try...just try to remember, "If God is for me, who could be against me?" or "Perfect Love casts out ALL fear..."

There is NOTHING new under the sun and there never will be because Truth is older than the stars and yet in a blink of an eye it is always new. We must constantly make room for Truth and let the Christ be born in a manger of humility and awe and amazement that we are so very blessed in all ways.

Joseph Murphy blessed the world with his insights into life and wherever Mr. Murphy is now I'm sure he is doing great and better things.

Thrills, spills and a poignant love story

I usually don't write 5-star reviews because I don't read them and I don't think many people do. But I have to leave a 5-star for one of my all time favorite books.

I had never heard of Harlan Coben and happened to see a signed copy of this in a bookstore. I bought it just because it was signed and the story looked good. Yes, I am THAT shallow. :) This is one of those books that I keep handy and read again and again and again....

Lots of others have described what the book is about. I'll just say that I read a lot. I am rarely shocked. The ending of this book had me GOBSMACKED. It was amazing.

i have gotten bored after a few novels. boy loses girl in some tragic event that boy refuses to let go. against impossible odds somehow the unexplainably deep love that refuses to die saves them. they all start to read the same. it's a shame. he's a fantastic writer.

not a good read.

This was my first Harlan Coben novel, and it will be my last. The plot was interesting enough (although somewhat far-fetched), but the writing was so hackneyed I had to force myself to finish it. Also, the Kindle edition lacked any separation between sections, which was sometimes confusing. It would take several sentences before you realized that the narrative had shifted to a different scene/character. All in all, not a good read.

Vision, Race, and Modernity traces the subtle shifts that occurred in European and South American depictions of Andean Indians from the late eighteenth to the early twentieth centuries, and explains how these shifts led to the modern concept of "racial difference." While Andean peoples were always thought of as different by their European describers, it was not until the early nineteenth century that European artists and scientists became interested in developing a unique visual and typological language for describing their physical features. Poole suggests that this "scientific" or "biological" discourse of race cannot be understood outside a modern visual economy. Although the book specifically documents the depictions of Andean peoples, Poole's findings apply to the entire colonized world of the nineteenth century.

Poole presents a wide range of images from operas, scientific expeditions, nationalist projects, and picturesque artists that both effectively elucidate her argument and contribute to an impressive history of photography. Vision, Race, and Modernity is a fascinating attempt to study the changing terrain of racial theory as part of a broader reorganization of vision in European society and culture.
